Outdoor Bonfire Pit
Bonfires are an important part of the summer and so this year I decided to build my own. Using trapezoid shaped gray bricks from Home Depot, I built around a pre-existing fire pit to make it more appealing. Using resources around the backyard, I found red bricks to add in between each block to make the pit larger as well as to add an extra aesthetic touch. The stone didn't match up perfectly at the connecting point of the circle so I improvised by leaving a gap at the bottom to provide the fire with more airflow allowing for a bigger flame.
Belmar Sandcastle Competition
Rome WAS built in one day! Today we went to the D'Jais Belmar Annual Sandcastle Competition. My sister, her friend, and I came with no plan at all so we started by digging a hole and after some digging thought to build the Roman Colosseum. As far as beach popularity goes, we attracted B-List attention and were recorded by channel 12 news as they asked us about our process. After crafting the normal Colosseum circle we added 3 symmetrical off-shoots from the circle to make it more interesting. My sister and Kevin worked on the inside of the structure, while I carved the outside revealing a brick affect.
